Terms of use

A focused preview, with clear boundaries.

These terms explain what the current MethodLens prototype is, how learners may use it, and what will change before a formal beta or research study.

Current status

MethodLens is a public educational prototype with guest mode and private account workspaces, not a tutoring guarantee, graded course, medical service, or active research study. Formal beta participation will use a separate parent-permission and student-assent process.

1. Agreement and eligibility

By creating an account or using the preview, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the preview. Account holders must provide accurate profile information, protect access to the identity account used for login, and tell MethodLens about suspected unauthorized access.

The planned initial beta is intended for students ages 15–17 in Alabama. Because those students are minors under Alabama law, MethodLens will require a parent or legal guardian's permission as well as the student's own agreement before formal participation begins. MethodLens is not directed to children under 13.

2. Educational purpose

MethodLens helps students practice recognizing mathematical clues, selecting methods, carrying out solutions, replaying mistakes, and reflecting on confidence. Content and insights may be incomplete or incorrect. Students should verify important work with a teacher, qualified tutor, or reliable source.

The preview does not promise a particular grade, test score, admission result, or other outcome.

3. Acceptable use

You may use MethodLens for personal learning and authorized testing. You may not:

  • Attempt to bypass access controls, probe security, interfere with the service, or impersonate another person.
  • Upload malicious code, unlawful material, or personal information about another person without permission.
  • Scrape, sell, publicly repost, or commercially reuse private preview materials without written permission.
  • Use the service to cheat or submit generated work in violation of a school's rules.

4. Problems, feedback, and ownership

You keep any rights you already have in material you enter. Guest learning work stays in the browser. For signed-in accounts, problem text, first thoughts, optional answers, progress, and Workpad data are saved to the MethodLens account and cached in the browser. Full problems and Workpad content are excluded from the anonymous learning-event export. Optional product-feedback reports are sent separately as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not enter confidential, identifying, or sensitive information.

If you voluntarily send feedback, you allow MethodLens to use it to evaluate and improve the project without identifying you publicly. MethodLens owns its original brand, interface, code, explanations, and project materials, subject to any rights held by third-party licensors.

5. Privacy and research

The Privacy Policy explains account storage, browser caching, identity verification, and hosting data. The current preview is not an active research study. A future study or expanded beta will provide separate disclosures and obtain required permissions before collecting study data.

6. Availability and changes

MethodLens may change, pause, restrict, or end the preview at any time. A new account begins empty; guest work and old unowned preview data are not automatically imported. Progress values are calculated from the learner's saved activity. Public marketing examples are not added to the private learner record.

Material changes to these terms will appear with a new effective date. When appropriate, testers will be asked to agree again.

7. Disclaimer and responsibility

The preview is provided on an “as available” basis for testing. To the extent allowed by law, MethodLens does not make warranties about uninterrupted access, error-free content, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

Testers remain responsible for how they use educational suggestions and for following school, family, and device rules.

8. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Alabama and applicable United States law, without overriding consumer protections that must apply. Questions may be sent to pyatharth@gmail.com.
